Brighton Council Business wins Technology Contract with NSW Water Authority

SPECIALISED local government software technology developed by a Brighton Council business has won a contract with a New South Wales water authority to provide a billing and land information system.

Microwise Australia, wholly owned by Brighton Council, won a competitive tender to provide a billing system as well as associated land information management for Rous Water in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.

Brighton leads the way in its resource-sharing business deal

BRIGHTON Council’s successful resource-sharing initiatives have been recognised by its local government peers.

Council’s unique business model has been rewarded for demonstrating operational excellence with an award presented at this year’s Local Government Association (LGAT) awards for excellence. The award is for Council’s outstanding common service provision model that allows it to share its staff and resources with other councils both in Tasmania and more recently in its partnerships with interstate councils as well as the development of a sister city relationship with Suva in Fiji.

Brighton forges sister city relationship with Suva, Fiji

Tasmania’s Brighton Council has established a sister city relationship with the Suva City Council in Fiji.

Brighton Mayor Tony Foster said the mutual economic and cultural relationship was designed to benefits to both local government bodies and communities.

Councillor Foster said Brighton was already providing technology services to the Suva City Council through its MicroWise business and Council officers had visited Fiji to assist in upgrading their business systems. This was expected to expand now that the sister city relationship had been formalised.
